“I think we lost the game in the first 25 minutes, we were not ready for the kick and rush football of Rwanda,” Broos revealed.“I told the players that they have to be careful of that in the first 20-25 minutes, we gave them two presents, two goals, players were ready to go into duels. "When you see the first 20 minutes it’s unbelievable that a qualifier of a World Cup is played on such a pitch," the Belgian continued."It is impossible, but okay, it is what it is and I think Fifa has to be stricter on the rules where you are going to play. We are talking about professional football, we are talking about qualifiers of the biggest tournament, then you play on such a pitch."It is not normal to arrive in a country and then travel three hours with a bus before [you reach] your final destination," he added."I will not say it’s the reason we lost the game, not at all but I think those things have to change, we’re in 2023."We are talking about professional football and this pitch is not professional, and you don’t let an opponent travel three hours from an airport for their destination, this is only my remark, nothing to do with the defeat of today."

Unbeliavable game played on unplayable pitch 

"We wanted to play football, not kick and rush, so somehow the weather made us some problems. We couldn't play football because the ground was totally wet and if you pass the ball on the ground it sticks," Rwanda coach Torsten Spittler opened up."So we had to play some long balls, but it was not just some kick and rush, it was movement before to create some space and to get the ball in the space and run after the ball."This worked very well; I think we did a very good match in the first half. The approach was like that, to go out from the first second and give them no space to play tiki-taka and to surprise them."

Rwanda were not prepared for 'kick-and-rush'

Rwanda's shock win over Bafana took them top of Group C with four points, one more than second-placed South Africa.Nigeria are third with two points after as many draws.
