Former Orlando Pirates & Bafana Bafana star Thamsanqa Gabuza spent the night in holding cells on Tuesday night but was released on Wednesday - report

According to Sunday World, <a href="https://sundayworld.co.za/news/gabuza-pleads-poverty-pays-r3-000-bail-for-damage-to-property/" target="_blank">Gabuza handed himself over to the Bramley Police Station </a>on Tuesday, 21 November, where he spent the night in the holding cells following an alleged incident of malicious damage to property. Gabuza made an appearance at the Alexandra Magistrate’s court on Wednesday.'Ganda-Ganda's' detention was to do with an alleged broken cellphone, but his legal team maintains they do not know how the phone was broken.

WHAT HAPPENED

Gabuza was granted bail of R3000 but did not pay it immediately as he initially pleaded poverty. However, his lawyer Themba Ngobeni argued that his client could only afford R2000 at the time, not to suggest that he cannot afford the set R3000.Ngobeni said his client had not been paid yet for this month and that his wife is not employed, and as a result could not pay the full amount immediately. However, Gabuza's camp managed to come up with the R3000 and the TS Galaxy striker is now a free man.Meanwhile, Magistrate Peggy Senne set Gabuza's bail conditions as follows:<ul><li>Forbidden from making any contact with the witness</li><li>Forbidden from going to her place of residence</li><li>He was ordered to attend all court hearings</li></ul>

This was not the first time that Gabuza has found himself on the wrong side of the law. In 2017, the ex-Pirates goal-banger <a href="https://www.iol.co.za/sport/soccer/psl/video-twitter-reacts-to-the-arrest-of-orlando-pirates-gabuza-10109035" target="_blank">was reportedly arrested for allegedly beating his then girlfriend</a>.

The case was adjourned to December 11 to allow for further investigation.Meanwhile, his club, The Rockets, have not broken their silence on the matter and Gabuza's legal team have prevented the former Pirates and Bafana Bafana goal-getter from making any comments until they establish what happened in the events leading up to Ganda-Ganda's arrest.
